Jacksonville Florida Favorites: Things To Do

Jacksonville is such a fun place to visit or live! We’ve been here a little over 3 years and are loving being by the beach, all the things to do, and the community here. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite things to do in Jacksonville that are on the classy side, along with some recommendations. If you’re looking for something specific, click over to my older blog posts about good restaurants in Jacksonville, or my St. Augustine guide.

High Tea at Ashes Tearoom and Boutique: A hidden gem that I love going to any chance I get. Ashes Tearoom is a quaint spot for high tea located in Jacksonville Beach. It’s got yummy tea trays with a great selection of hot teas, and the environment is what you’d picture if it were owned by a sweet grandma with collected tea pots. A great spot for all things girly! They also do events.

Cummer Museum – Peruse the gardens, museum, and make a reservation for lunch. Budget a few hours to walk through this museum! There’s lots to see, along with the stunning garden overlooking the St. John’s river. Look at their instagram or website for different events!

Show or concert at the Florida Theater – Check out their website for upcoming shows. This theater is so cute and still looks very 1920’s. We always go to the Nutcracker Ballet here, along with lots of other concerts that come through Jacksonville!

TPC Sawgrass or Ponte Vedra Club for a round of golf – Stay for lunch, peruse around the grounds, and enjoy their golf courses! The staff at both locations are so kind.

Shopping at St. John’s Town Center – Lots of good stores like J.Crew, Nordstrom, Lululemon, Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch and lots more. Stop to eat at one of the many restaurants- a few of my favorites are Tommy Bahama, RH Rooftop, and Midtown Table.

Ponte Vedra Spa – One of the best spas I’ve ever been to, Ponte Vedra is my favorite spot for ultimate relaxation. There’s nothing like being right by the beach during a treatment, and their spa has such an extensive amount of services. More on this coming soon!

One Ocean Spa – Another Spa in Jacksonville, this one is located in Jax Beach and is a smidge smaller and less expensive than Ponte Vedra, but still a great place for a massage. Their staff is wonderful, and just like Ponte Vedra Spa, you’re right on the beach!

Jacksonville Symphony – We are so excited to go to the symphony this year during the holidays. They have lots of events throughout the year, but the best time of year is Christmas!

Spend an afternoon in Avondale – Any chance I get, I love going to Avondale. It’s close to Downtown Jacksonville but feels like its own charming little small town. Peruse adorable shops and eat at all the yummy restaurants. We love Josephine, Biscotti’s, and Orsay for lunch or dinner. The art galleries, home decor stores, and coffee shops are perfect for a laid back day.

Wine Tasting at Posting House or Town Hall in San Marco – San Marco is another one of those towns within Jacksonville that’s so fun to hang out in. Posting House has great wine and light bites for an afternoon pick me up or a happy hour treat, and Town Hall sometimes has wine tasting events. Check their event calendar if you’re looking for something specific.

Go to a Jags game or the Florida/GA Game! If you’re visiting in the fall, snag some tickets to see the Jacksonville Jaguars (or the bulldogs!) at the TIAA Bank Field in Downtown Jacksonville. These games are so fun, even if you’re not a fan 😉 The stadium is right by the river, and is a great location for things to do before and after the game.

Museum of Contemporary Art – So many things to do: kids classes, yoga, coffee shop, art tours, movie nights, and lots more.

Drive in movie at Sun-Ray Cinema – We haven’t done this yet, but it’s on my list! Such a fun idea for a date night.

Jacksonville Center for Performing Arts – Another spot for plays, concerts, symphonies, and shows. Look on their event calendar!
