It’s our first Easter with a baby, and I can’t wait to add to all of our traditions!
This season has always been meaningful to me, but there’s something extra special about celebrating with Shep — especially now that we’ve moved and are starting fresh in so many ways.
Since relocating to New York City, we’ve been searching for a church home that feels like the right fit. We’ve started visiting a church on the West Side that we really love, and we’re excited to get more involved as we continue to settle in. My heart is set on making every holiday full of warmth and meaning for our family, and Easter feels like the perfect time to start shaping those rhythms.
I ordered this basket in blue gingham for Easter and had it monogrammed. It’s such a good price! I know it will be a few years before he can truly remember these special moments enough to start looking forward to them, but I love being able to say, “We’ve had/done this since you were a baby!”
Here’s are some great basket stuffers for babies + kids! Most everything is from Amazon to keep it easy.
John had so many sweet memories from his childhood that he wanted to incorporate into Shep’s. One of them was his little collection of sheep that his mom would give to each of the kids in their baskets every year. I remember him saying how when he was little, he would line them all up on his bed and sleep with them every night the weeks leading up to Easter. The most precious! Each year they’d add to their little flock.
I will be starting with this little precious sheep. I think you could also do this with stuffed bunnies or chicks, or mix and match each year. Any Easter lovie will do! Here are some other cute ones I found:
In addition to the fun and festive things, I’m also tucking in a few heirloom pieces that feel extra special this year. These are the things I hope Shep will keep long after he’s outgrown egg hunts and chocolate bunnies.
Another idea I love: make Easter art using your baby’s handprints or footprints. You can turn it into a card for grandparents or frame it for next spring. I’ll show ours below if you need inspiration!
I usually do a traditional Southern Easter lunch—roast chicken, green beans, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese… you know the classics. But truly, the best meal is one that your family loves most, served on a beautifully set table. Spring and Christmas are two of my favorite seasons for tablescapes, and I’m always looking for inspiration. Here are some elegant pieces to help you create a gorgeous Easter table this year! They’re all from Amazon so you can get everything in before Sunday.
With so many new things in our life lately — a move, a baby, a new routine, a new church, a new community — it feels grounding to keep it traditional. Whether you’re celebrating big this year or keeping it simple, I hope this gives you a few ideas to make the day feel special!
Happy Easter, friends!
