Host A Gingerbread House Decorating Party

A very Merry Christmas Party! There’s nothing like a holiday-themed girls night to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. This year, I hosted a Gingerbread House Decorating Cocktail Party and cookie swap with some girlfriends and it was ball. Here’s how I did it!

Set the Scene

Create a cozy + elevated holiday atmosphere.

For this party, I used:

Premade Gingerbread Houses:

These ready-to-decorate kits from Target were a lifesaver. They come with all the essentials, so there’s no stress about assembling houses from scratch. We could just jump into decorating!

Festive Decorating candy

Amazon and Target had such fun little candies to use for decorating!

This Festive Tablecloth

I used this green and white table cloth from Amazon that looks so much more expensive than it is. So chic! I love that it’s just subtle enough that I can use all year round. I will even use it for Christmas dinner with some red details for a more traditional look! More on that later 🙂

These Scalloped Placemats

I added a touch of sophistication with green scalloped placemats from Ballard Designs. They added a pop of color and tied the holiday theme together in our green dining room!

Decorative Accents

Candle sticks with bows, centerpiece Christmas trees, and pre-lit wreaths all from Amazon completed the look. I tied a bow to pretty much anything I could!

Encourage your girls to dress in theme by wearing their finest festive outfits. It’s so fun how dressing up adds to the overall vibe of the night!

Festive Food + Drink

No party is complete without a few snacks and cocktails. Here’s what I served (nothing fancy!):

Cheeseball

A classic, easy-to-make appetizer that everyone loves. I used this recipe!

Fried Pickles

These were a crowd-pleaser! Crispy, tangy, and addictive, they’re perfect for snacking while decorating.

Charcuterie Board

I curated a mix of cheeses, meats, crackers, and grapes for an easy cheeseboard.

Christmas Cocktails

Pomegranate Fizz were the star of the night (and beyond easy). Recipe is below!

1 oz gin

2 oz pomegranate juice

Fill the rest of the glass with chilled champagne

Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary and a few cranberries. It’s beyond easy!

Decorating Gingerbread Houses

The main event of the evening was, of course, decorating gingerbread houses. To make it fun and stress-free:

Set up a decorating station with bowls of candy, sprinkles, royal icing, and edible glitter. Amazon has amazing bulk candy options!

Provide each guest with their own kit to make it easy to get started.

Play a holiday playlist in the background to keep the energy festive.

This party was such a fun one to host for the Christmas season, and I know you’ll have just as much fun recreating it! For more details, check out the reel on my Instagram to see how everything turned out. Don’t forget to follow along for more hosting tips, home decor and party ideas!
